Aug 27 - Queens Street Mall / Deagon Skatepark

Posted by The PMK Van on 28 August 2008 at 6:30pm — No Comments

As we rolled into Brisbane (Aka Brisvagas - as the locals like to call it) the season was still classified as winter, however when the temperatures hit 30 degrees, it certainly didn’t feel like winter. Everyone had smiles on their faces and it’s easy to see why, with the weather looking to remain consistent all week!…

Aug 28 - Gold Coast / Pizzey Park Skatepark

Posted by The PMK Van on 28 August 2008 at 6:30pm — No Comments

It was nothing but sunshine on the Gold Coast, as we visited Pizzey Skate Park. It wouldn’t have been a true Gold Coast experience if we didn’t visit some of the popular theme parks. Sea World and Dreamworld certainly brought back some early childhood memories, and it was times like these I wish I was still a kid.…

Aug 26 - Lismore University

Posted by The PMK Van on 27 August 2008 at 6:30pm — No Comments

Market day was a little crazy at Lismore University. The student’s set-up stalls and local bands played in front of a large university crowd, adding to the atmosphere on the day. The feedback from the locals was astounding. Many thanked us for taking the time to visit the area, and mentioned that they rarely get included on such a cool tour.

Although it was the last day in my hometown of Sydney there was a tremendous buzz around the gates of Sydney University. If there is one thing I have learned on the last four weeks, it’s Uni Students LOVE FREE NOODLES!! Luckily we had enough samples to keep them all satisfied.

Bondi Beach was the place to be on Saturday as we rocked up early to check out the morning surf. Young skaters, surfers and bladders came out of nowhere making the most of the fine weekend weather conditions and carving up the concrete walls at Bondi Skate Park. Many of the local Grommets took time out from ripping up the park to hang out at the van snack on some noodles!…

Hundreds of students stopping to sample their favorite noodles on their way home from university.

14-17 Aug - Mount Hotham, Falls Creek

Posted by The PMK Van on 18 August 2008 at 12:00pm — No Comments

Thursday 14/Aug Despite the icy cold temperatures, most of those who were brave enough to hit the slopes came over to check out the van. If it wasn’t for the warm cups of noodles, I would have suffered from a serious case of frostbite during the day. Everyone was exited to know we would be on the mountain over the weekend. With the weather conditions on the improve, hopefully we can unveil the PlayStation3 and LCD. Friday 15/Aug Friday was the 39th consecutive day below zero at t…

On the Sunday we headed to the St. Kilda esplanade, the esplanade is full of street vendors selling all kinds of food, clothing and gifts. There were plenty of people on hand to snack on the noodles and it was great to stop in at a venue with such a relaxed vibe. It was another successful day on the tour. We look forward to finishing Melbourne and tearing up the slopes at Hotham.

We were back at the MCG for the second game of the weekend between St. Kilda and Collingwood. This game was sure to be packed with Collingwood having a massive following. We couldn’t get the noodles out fast enough to satisfy the hunger of today’s crowd! It’s been a great time out at the AFL and to all those that had some noodles it was great to meet you all!

3 Aug - Melbourne Stencil Festival

Posted by The PMK Van on 3 August 2008 at 9:00pm — No Comments

St Kilda and Port fans were very appreciative of the lunchtime samples on their way to the Telstra Dome, the crowd was a little more tame then at the MCG. Once the game kicked off we moved the activity to Abbotsford Park, located directly across the road from the Melbourne Stencil Festival. We were able to experience the true Melbourne with the area swarming with young teenagers and Melbourne underground art community.

2 Aug - Essendon Vs Melbourne

The Essendon Vs Melbourne AFL match between the two Melbourne heavy weights was sure to be a big one! The crowed was going wild as we pulled up to Richmond Station, in front of the biggest crowds I have seen on the tour. I couldn’t tell whether the rumble was coming from the crowd cheering for their favorite team or just the rumble of the spectator stomachs as they pilled up for a free cup of noodles. Pictures below!

31 Jul - Melbourne Museum

Posted by The PMK Van on 1 August 2008 at 5:30pm — No Comments

Melbourne Museum was the first stop on the Melbourne leg of the Fantastic Tour, a big thanks to the Melbourne Museum Security for allowing us to park the van inside the car park. Located in the Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, it is the largest museum in the Southern Hemisphere, and it was easy to see why the area was full of many young tourists and Melbourne locals on their last week of holidays. The day seemed to be running well until we had an issue with one of the wheels on the van while exiti…

The large open reserve was made up of plenty of parents and children enjoying community events or activities. We had a minor issue with the hot water system at the start of the day, however I was quick to fix the problem, allowing the activity to run smoothly for the rest of the day.
