Alex and myself thought it would be great to throw a little of both of our cars into the kettle. Alex’s love for audio and TV’s, my love for nitrous and airbags . So we came up with a compromise.
We first approached Brian @ Probag to see if he thought it was possible to bag a kettle – he had a chuckle then said “ive done a trolley so why not”. So the Kettle journey begun... it headed down to Dapto for the suspension overhaul. Two days later it returned – bouncin’ n rollin all over the place.
The kettle’s next delivery came from Jarrod at Oak Flats Electronics – he felt that the kettle was in dire need of some audio to live up to Alex’s rep of being the man with screens everywhere! So up he sent 2x 7” screens, a set of 5” speakers and a JVC DVD headunit to make it all crank.
So putting all these pretty pieces together on the table – we realised something – the body needed to be cut n shut to make it shorter and more sturdy to handle all our equipment. So Daniel from Balarang Customs came to the party helping with the strengthening and customising of the base and wiring up all the audio gear. With the kettle in place, the framework together it was time to get the fibreglassing party started. With Alex and I having no real expertise in this area this is where Dan tha Man showed us his skills .
With her new body (yes its a her – cars always are hers so pimped out kettles have to be too!!) it was time to get it smooth as silk so bogging, sanding, sanding, bogging, sanding sanding sanding we went (this is when you need apprentices!)
With her new bod she was ready to strut her stuff down to Glen and Daniel at good ol ESP Racing down in Canberra where they applied their special touch and made her puuurrrrrrggggeeeee. Fitted with nitrous from her spout, braided line and a sexy little RC nitrous bottle mounted to her back she made her way home for some paint to make her shine. Steve from SEM dropped off her shining new colours and crazy concentrates for us to start creating her final look.
Pink base was applied then a kandy red over the top half followed by black two tone base with Prizmatique and Violet Candy. Then over the top red a water droplet effect was made and some fluro orange and green flames stencilled along the side.
Roni from Team Lushes managed to spare some time to help out the competition and make our kettle shine my applying the SEM Clear.
Last point of call – back to the garage to be fitted and connected – screens were mounted, speakers attached, white walls cleaned, tyres blackened and neons fixed and Nitrous bottle mounted ready for her pimped out kettle debut.
